Scraps are the absolute best!

I purchased a scrap bag from a local quilt shop, for $5.00.  In the bag were strings and pieces, just a bright bunch of pretty fabrics.  SO...…...I decided to use the scrap bag, in addition of some of my own scraps, to duplicate the quilt below, but bigger.  Here is my start.  This quilt is not easy in some ways, but delightfully easy in others.  So on I go!!!
That little yellow sheet of paper was my note to myself, from twenty years ago, to me of today!  Thank you old self!  I wrote down the measurements for the blocks, LOL!
I have been playing with scraps.  I love this, but it just does not grab me enough to make a whole quilt.  Maybe plaids or repros?  Still thinking about this one!
I am hand quilting this one...Rosie the poodle is inspecting.  She is not really sure if it is up to her standards.
More work on this block!  Loving it!
I added a scrappy binding after hand quilting this little quilt.
I added this binding, and just need to hand turn it under and stitch it down.
Isn't this the prettiest thing?  I admired this hand crocheted beauty, and the darling Nina sent it to me!  I love it, and it got here on my birthday!  Perfect timing!

That is about it from my house...

Hugs from Julie

You have certainly made good use of scraps. So fun!

Pretty pink doily. I made a doily when I was 17 years old. It was supposed to be pretty much the size of yours. A pineapple design. I followed the directions and it turned out a round table cloth size. Don't know how that happened. I never made another doily but I crocheted many, many afghans.

Happy Birthday! I love that you wrote yourself a note about the blocks. The larger quilt is going to be just as spectacular. Oooh, I love the appliqué flower mini quilt: it's lovely. Have a scrap-happy day.

The little friendship star mixed with the scraps is so cute. This is going to make a fun quilt. I love doilies. I have made numerous ones through the years and have inherited them from Grandmother's and Aunts. My son even brought a large one home from Romania when he was there. Although the Romanians do a "Point Stitch" crochet (I think that's what it is called). Regardless, it is lovely.

I so love that quilt from 20 years ago that it has been in my to-do list ever since you talked about it on your blog. No, not started yet but would love if you could share the measurement written on that little piece of yellow paper. Wink. You have a lot of hand sewing project and they are all beautiful. My mother did so many crocheted round table topper or candle mat. If you enjoy these, I'll try to take one out and post about it. Enjoy! ;^)

I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Julie! Your creations are all so inspiring. Love how you 'blocked in' your angels! Very effective! I’ve been scrapping through the summer, too, and having a ball, but none of my projects are as fun as yours! Thank you for always being so inspiring!

Hi Julie. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday even though it is very late.
I really love all that scrappy goodness. The little Friendship Star looks very pretty among all the beautiful scraps.
Since I know you love scrappy and stars, I have a link that you might like to check out. She had a quilt-along and the quilt is just gorgeous! It has Stars and it is made from scrappy squares. Here is the link----

At the top, she has it listed so that you can click on it and get all the info about it. There is also another scrappy quilt up there that is also gorgeous. I hope you get a chance to check them out.

The doily is darling too!!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
