Borders!!

Well, friends, as you know...I always am at a sticking point when it comes to borders.  So this morning,  I pulled out a couple of quilt tops without the borders and put some on!!!
This is what happened with this one, after several auditions.
And this is what happened to this quilt, after several more auditions!!
I am delighted to have them finished to this point...and it was not as painful as I imagined!!

I think that I get stuck on the borders because I just love the quilt so much, that I don't want to mess it up with an incorrect border choice.  A cooling off period worked with with these quilts...just GETERDUN!!!!
I also completed a couple more eight inch stars.  Loving my plaids, this time mixed with prints.

DID YOU SEE THAT GORGEOUS MOON?  All the Log Cabin Lunatics were loving it...HEHEHEE!!

Have a great day!

Julie

I love the sashing & cornerstones you have on that first quilt - they all look dressed now that they have their final borders on! Yep, saw the moon and enjoyed it - have loved all the photos I've seen.

Two Gayles in a row!
I love the sashing on that first quilt, too. And your borders look terrific! I agree that a cooling off helps a lot - I'd dither myself into the ground if I didn't hide them from myself once in a while!

They are both beautiful, Julie!! I especially love the unique cornerstone treatment on the first one. So clever of you!
We chased the moon and saw it rise two different times. Once from our house as it peeked through the mouth of the canyon, and 40 minutes later at our daughter's home as it came up over the mountains.

Good choices on the borders - they makes the quilts the "star" not the borders.

The moon has been gorgeous, and sadly tonight it is overcast and won't be visible.

Love Love Love your scrappy quilts! The first one is a real beauty. Great job on the borders.

You shouldn't doubt yourself. You came up with two great border applications, the first one especially!

Oh I LOVE the first one with borders. Really makes the quilt. The other's beautiful, too. Always get stuck on the borders as well. My Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street has been finished FOREVER except for the border..still waiting. (sigh) The moon was SO BEAUTIFUL!!!

That first quilt, Julie, is fabulous. I love the scrappy blocks and I think your sashing and cornerstones enhance the blocks. The borders on both quilts just let the quilts glow and be the stars of the show. (But I know how you feel about borders and trying to decide. I do the same thing!)

Your choices for border were "Spot On". They are both beautiful. The scrappy one is my favorite.

Your borders turned out great! I get stuck on the quilting part.

I love the four patch scrappy star quilt! I like the choice for the border, it calms all the colors down and gives the eye a place to rest. What is the name of this pattern?

Sometimes border inspiration takes time and sometimes its the hunt for the right fabric. Love your choices they make the quilt pop rather then distract the eye.

I often make quilts with no borders for exactly that reason! It is a hard balance to make the border not steal the show from the pieced or appliqued blocks in a quilt. Good work!

These quilts couldn't ask for better borders. I love the slim red inner border on the second one. It pops! It would have been too much for the first quilt as it has such a fantastic sashing & cornerstones. It's perfect ... both of them. Enjoy the plaids! ;^)

Isn't it nice when just the right mood strikes and you accomplish so much? Your quilts with their new borders look great! I love the look of the lattice on that first one. So much so, I have to go back for one more peek! XO

I am the same way with the border decisions... I'm doing it again today too :)
I loved that moon and tried to take a picture of it, but none of the shots showed the beauty I saw!

They are both wonderful scrappy quilts! It so nice to move things from the UFO pile to the To Be Quilted Pile. Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh my, just love what you did with those scrappy rectangular blocks. The sashing sure add a touch of zing that is unexpected. Way to go. Two tops done.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
