Hi Everyone!! I had an imaginary conversation with the quilt police!! "Well, Officer, this is how it happened. I was really, truly focused on my log cabin blocks like I said I was goin' to...but those darn scraps were hollerin' at me!! And the baskets...they were hollerin' too! I had NO CHOICE...I am innocent!"
I know I was supposed to stay focused as I have been prattling on about the last few posts, and just do one thing at a time, and I had the best intentions...and you know which road best intentions paved!!!
The log cabin blocks are still there...I am still working on them too...but these scrappy crazy blocks are just making me jump for joy right now...and hey, that is worth something!! I know they are way out of a lot of people's comfort zone...but I love them!!
So there, quilt police!!
Julie

The scrappy strips made a very good setting for the basket blocks. Did you piece the strips on a fabric foundation?
Your scrappy setting is wonderful. What could be better than a mix of scraps and baskets?:)
too awesome!!!
well said ! I have been totally diverted onto an unplanned project on a whim! I feel for you - it is a disease but quite a pleasant one and there is no known cure!
I like to focus on one project at a time but every now and then a little detour energizes me, like a change of scenery. Enjoy your detour!
Well those blocks are just too darn cute not to drop everything and put together. Scrap Baskets totally wonderful idea
I love those baskets!
You have been staying so focused. Everyone deserves a diversion now and then!! This is a very fun one. : )
You are too funny!
Those baskets and strings look great together. The police will totally let you off :-)
I'd let you off with warning! Your basket & string blocks look terrific.
These blocks are so darn cute so I understand how they pull your attention to them.
Your post was pretty funny. Especially because we are all guilty.
Wow, looks absolutly fantastic.
You have been so focussed and good at finishing projects recently I think a little diversion is allowed! Basically as long as YOU are having fun with YOUR hobby, that's ok. I love the basket blocks you've created :)
Those blocks are so darn cute! That is a creative setting for the little baskets. I'll have to copy that idea someday. Thanks for sharing.
BUSTED!!
LOL. I was going to keep quiet about it, but as you have shouted out your confession to the world, I will admit that I have been unfocussed too. We got home from holidays on Monday, and I just HAD to sew, so I decided to stash bust my green stash & I have made a whacking bunch of wonky stars for Aussie Heros which is the BOM for August. The green stash is just sitting in my cupboard laughing at me. Doesn't look busted at all!
So funny that you are defending your sewing in imaginary conversations!! What a hoot you are!
If all else fails with the police, you could always try crying...tears sometimes work! "But officer I am a quilting addict, and you don't know how hard it is for me"! LOL
I like Kathy's approach above! No quilt police unit could blame you for having so much fun with inspiration ! You go, girl!
The BEST quilt are the result of a zig instead of a zag! That's why quilting is SEW much fun!! I LOVE your basket blocks!! Well done!!
P
I say re-prioritize the list....and do the baskets.....they are FABULOUS! No guilt and no tickets! lol
Oh, they just wanted a closer look at your fabulous blocks! No one can stay focused on just ONE project at a time. You are just multitasking - no law against that! Um, you are using leaders and enders, too, right? That makes 3 projects getting closer to completion! Way to go!
Good for you, Julie. I think the most wonderful quilts are created exactly this way. Call it coloring outside the lines, or whatever. When your creative juices get flowing, let them flow! The log cabins will be there. And who knows, maybe there'll be a spark to shake those up a bit, too.
I LOVE your "string-y" baskets! That's gonna be one fun quilt. And after all, we're sorta in this quilting thing to have fun, right?
But I like these scrappy blocks much better than the log cabin blocks. Too much fun!
Funny! I think that we all have those discussions with the quilt police at one point in time or another. Probably more often than not. As long as you're having fun.
The Quilt Police only exist if you let them. Personally, I don't let them. :)
Love love love your baskets! :)
I those baskets are perfectly lovely...but then I'm a scrappy kinda gal. :-) Those quilt police should go ticket somebody else.
