Hi everyone!! Above is a small version of Bonnie Hunter's Pineapple quilt. It is about 30x36...do you think it would be OK for a baby quilt, for a little boy? Or should I go with something with a baby-like print fabric...what do you think?? I just love using scraps!! Is that OK? I need to make two boy baby quilts for people at work...I can't keep up!
Hey, let's give this away!! I somehow have two of this magazine...and the cover quilt? Is by none other than Kathie, of Inspired by Antique Quilts blog fame!! I love her quilt, and this magazine has some great Christmas ideas too. If you would like to be put in the drawing, just leave a comment about anything...maybe how many trick or treaters you had! We had buses and buses full of them...over 200 kiddos and then I lost count!
Thank you so much, everyone for commenting on my last post, the book giveaway! Random number drawing came up with Kaaren, at the Painted quilt! Please send me your address, Kaaren, and I will get your book in the post stat.

I had a super nice patient last week. An engineer with two PHD's, he was a smartie! But...Alzheimer's is setting in for him. Isn't it sad when some of our brilliant minds succumb to this...I know that someday a cure hopefully will be found!!!

Have a great day, all!!

It's a beautiful quilt, and any mom would love to wrap her baby boy in it! Don't enter me in the giveaway...I already have that magazine! :0)
I'd love to be entered in the magazine giveaway; I really love the cover quilt! We had two fairies, a pirate, a witch, Princess Leia, and about a million Mitt Romneys. Go figure....
It's perfect for a baby quilt, they don't have to be 'baby'. I love this pattern. I had 65 - 70 kidlets at the door!
That is way beyond OK...it's breathtakingly, bouncing baby boy, bee-you-tee-ful!!
I love the quilt and think any mom/baby would be thrilled with it. We had TWO tricker-or-treaters. Two boys together, about 9-10 years old. I should have given them the whole bag of candy. Then I wouldn't be eating it today.
Any mother would love to wrap such a beautiful quilt around her little boy. I love it! And, the magazine - awesome!!! I haven't bought one yet so I'd love to win it! Thanks!
Julie, that will make a gorgeous baby boy quilt. How lucky is that recipient!! :)
I think it would be wonderful for a baby quilt! It is one of my favorite patterns. It would also grow with the child. So many "baby" patterns are outgrown by the time the child is a year old. They love bold designs and bright color - this would be perfect!
We had no trick-or-treaters at our house. The kids go to the more densely populated neighborhoods. Thanks for sharing your magazine :*)
Love the blue quilt and think it perfect for a baby boy - as for your alzheimers patient sadly in my experience the more intelligent seem to be more prone to the condition - so sad - as for halloween we were away so I think a lot of the local kids who look out for the pumpkin lantern in our window as the only house to welcome them at the bottom of our close will have been disappointed this year
I had zero Trick-or-Treaters. We live in a new subdivision with only a few houses. T-ro-T'ers would rather go where they can get a lot of loot in a small amount of time.
I think it's a perfect baby boy quilt!
We had about 50 trick or treaters last night and really cute costumes. Would love to see that magazine!
I already bought the magazine, so don't put me in the drawing.
I love the quilt for a baby boy--who wouldn't?
We get no T-or-Ters. We live in the country where kids have to be driven from house to house. About a dozen years ago they started a Trunk-or-Treat at the community church, and now all of the kids go there.
DH has an aunt in Canada that said she had 400-500 kids and spent $60 on candy and still ran out!
I love the quilt - it is not so babyish that it can grow with a little guy once he gets past that tiny stage. Would love to have a chance for the magazine - we had about 80 or more kids - I was walking the block with my son and his friends, and my favorite was the "red solo cup" costume!!!
I don't see why that quilt wouldn't be fine! I think it is nice, two baby quilts in one week? I think I would be making some simple 4 patch quilts!
Hi Julie, It looks perfect for a baby quilt. Lovely pattern and the Mom will love to wrap baby in it. Take care, Jen.
Julie it's a perfect quilt for a baby. Just beautiful. I don't have the magazine so would love to go in the giveaway. Kathie's blog was the first blog I ever read and subscribed to. I love her scrappy quilts.
I think the wee blue quilt is perfect, so soft and calming.
OK congrats to Kaaren for winning the book....maybe I could win the magazine! I subscribe to this magazine, but our supplier here in NZ is having problems getting it!I have missed the last two, plus a A&P sampler mag too :-(.....
No trick or treater's here, it is still not a big thing here in NZ, but I do remember dressing up as witch several times as a kid & going from door to door with the 4 boys from next door dressed as the HULK....all 4 of them!
I loooove the baby quilt, makes me want to make it myself.
It's one he won't grow out of!
That would be a lovely baby boy quilt. If you wanted to you could always use a "baby" or "little boy" print on the back. Regardless, it is a treasure for mom and baby.(And dad, too!)
I think it is PERFECT for a baby quilt!! :)
The blue & white are PERFECT for a baby quilt!
Love the quilt and yes, it would be fantastic for a little boy.
I think the quilt would be great for a baby boy! Thanks for the giveaway!
Love using fabrics other than baby prints for baby quilts. That way they can use it later for a snuggle quilt if they want.
Thanks for the give away too!
Sandy A
Of course that is perfect for a baby quilt! It's gorgeous! And I personally prefer NOT using kid prints for quilts.....they didn't way back when! :o)
And ZERO trick or treaters! We live in the sticks.....and several years ago we would only get 2 kids, and then several teenagers, who wouldn't even have costumes on! Sheesh! So now we darken the house, and go out to dinner! A nice night out.....it's rarely busy at the restaurants!
Thanks for the chance at that mag! I love everything Kathie does!
I think that is perfect for a baby boy quilt. I love it! I'm really drawn to two color quilts right now! I don't need to be entered in the drawing for the magazine...I have it and LOVE the cover quilt!
That would make a fantastic baby quilt! As for trick-or-treaters, I didn't count but I ran out of candy :( At least we had enough for all the littlest kids who come out earlier.
Hi Julie!
Absolutely perfect for a baby quilt!
Thanks for the chance to win that magazine!
And thanks for the pt story, I think having a high IQ is risk factor for dementia!
Take care, Leslie
Cute baby boy quilt to me.
Btw- we had zero trick-treaters since we live on a dark dirt road in no-where ;-( That's the biggest thing DH and I miss about town.
I think your Bonnie Hunter Quilt would make an amazing baby boy quilt!! Love it! We had about 40 trick or treaters this year...every year it is less and less! Thirty years ago it was over 100! (geeze I sound so old!!) haha
P
I agree with everyone else, it is a perfect baby boy quilt. I had exactly ONE trick or treater. I gave her two full size candy bars!
I think this quilt is PERFECT for a baby quilt! :)
Of course that is perfect for a baby quilt! The parents will love it!
What a gorgeous quilt...and I think it would be great for a baby quilt!
I have the magazine already.
I think that is the most wonderful baby quilt ever! Makes me wish I could get preggers just so you'd make me a baby quilt! (OMG!!!! What am I saying!!!) LOL! Seriously, the quilt is perfection!
Alzheimer's is a very hard thing to watch! My Daddy had it, and it brings a tear to my eye to remember.
Would love to make that quilt. A friend had that magazine and I HAVE to find a copy. No tricksters at my house. I'm in Houston at the quilt show--shopping, classes, sewing in hotel room, meeting friends, fun week.
I think it's a great quilt for a baby boy! I can't imagine any mother who wouldn't be thrilled to receive it. No trick-or-treaters at our house. Thank you for offering the magazine -- and thank you for the good you do as a nurse.
Nancy from joy for grace
I love it too and think it would be great for a boys quilt! The scrap quilt is awesome. I am dreaming of making one myself, one day.... Thanks so much!
Gorgeous for a baby boy and it will grown with him and be kept. I am starting to love scrappy quilt so would love to win this magazine.
Love the blue Pineapple quilt ! I am a great fan of Bonnie's and an even bigger one of Kathy :-) Would love to win the magazine as it's unavailable in my part of the world.......Luv Ann J
It looks like a truly lovely quilt that I'm sure anyone would love to receive..and it is such a good size for a baby.
I won Jennifer's latest book, Julie? Woo hoo! I can't wait to read it. Thank you sooooooo much.
As for the quilt, if I had a baby boy (perish the thought at my age), I'd love it! As a matter of fact, it's so gorgeous that I might just keep it for myself and not share it with my son. *wink*
Thanks again, my friend.
I think this would be a wonderful quilt for a baby boy. Boys are so much harder to quilt for. Usually we have at least 150 trick or treaters but this year I'll be we had less than 50. Must have been the nasty weather!
The quilt is perfect for a baby boy. Love it. Living on the edge of town, we had no trick-or-treaters. I did carve a pumpkin just in case.
That would be a great baby quilt. I've always preferred baby quilts that don't shout "baby" because then they aren't tied to such a short time period of the child's life, as in the child won't be embarrassed to be seen with the quilt at age 10.
I have the pieces cut for one of those quilts in fall colored scraps, just waiting patiently in line for its turn at the machine.
We had one group of T-or-Ters, way fewer than usual.
I would love this magazine. For some reason the library doesn't have theirs yet. I took my kids treating, so I didn't hand out candy. Everyone loved my son's costume I made. He dressed as Popeye.
I say YES on the baby quilt. I let me subscription run out to APQ so I'd love to win.
We don't trick or treat until saturday due to the storm. So we aren't sure how many to expect.
Definately can give that away as a baby boy quilt!
We seldom get any trick or treaters as there are no young children around here, just a few teenagers. Your baby boy quilt is fabulous. I don't think that a baby quilt necessarily needs to be made up of novelty baby fabrics. This is a quilt that can be turned into an heirloom.
I think the quilt is great--any mother would be thrilled to wrap her precious boy in it.
Beautiful Quilt! I have the same dilema though. Made a blue and white Sunshine & Shadows baby quilt, but should have put a blue backing on it. I used white, and it would get dirty so quickly I'm afraid a mom wouldn't use it, but would keep it for an heirloom. So I've made quilts with novelty prints for the last two little boys in the family instead of giving this one.
So, I'd recommend not using white for the backing. (what was I thinking????)
The quilt is perfect! Then again to me anything blue is perfect:)
I (almost) never make baby quilts that are "babyish". I want the recipient to be able to use the quilt for a long time and not outgrow it because of fabrics that are childish.
I think it is a great boy quilt! Really looks nice.
I think it makes a great baby quilt! No trick or treat here again this year thanks to Hurricane Sandy (last year was due to the freak October snow storm)! Just got our power back this afternoon, but many are still without. Makes me really appreciate electricity and hot showers!
I think that is perfect for a baby boy. I tend to go with one novelty fabric and three coordinates, but then I'm using a very simple strippy pattern. With the interest in the complex design of the Pineapple Blossom, the scrappy blues are perfect. Oh, and no trick or treaters here--the community held a trunk or treat on the weekend instead. Please enter me in the drawing.
I make baby quilts in non-baby fabrics. I'd like to think that 40 years from now the "baby" will hang it on their living room wall as an antique!

It's a gorgeous quilt- certainly VERY nice for a baby quilt. Lucky little guy who gets to snuggle under this one!! I only had four trick-or-treaters. Usually have around 15. Our neighborhood doesn't have many children any more..
Thanks for the chance to win the magazine... count me in!!
Sure that good for a baby boy, he won't STAY a baby! No trick or treaters again. That 9 years of no T or Ts. It's ok too, I had plenty when I live in the city. Now I live on an old ranch. The gate stays locked and I have the peace and quiet I need. I'd love to win that magazine. Love the quilt on the cover. Thanks for your generosity.
I think this makes a wonderful baby quilt! I much prefer "normal" fabric in baby quilts than baby prints. the baby prints are cute, but when the child is older, he/she may want to keep the quilt around but might feel embarrassed if it was obviously a baby quilt.
Your quilts are all so inspiring. I am a scrap lover too.
I am sure I would enjoy the magazine.

Julie,
I think it works well for a baby boy. I love working with scraps too! Hope all is well.
Love the quilt for a baby boy. It will be well loved. Thanks for the chance to win.

I think your blue pineapple quilt would be a great baby quilt.
We had very few trick or treaters. Very sad. We enjoy it. But, that magazine would definitely be a sweet deal. Thanks for the chance.
Yes. I think it's a fabulous baby quilt for a boy. Great job!
Loving the shades of blue on this quilt.
Hello Julie, love your blue quilt and would make a beaut baby boy's quilt...Hugs Lyn
I'm really late on this one! I think the quilt is fine for a baby quilt.
we stopped doing the candy thing a few years ago. we go to dinner and a movie and things have died down by the time we get home.
i would love the mag if it's not too late!
