Donna, you were right! The borders do fit perfectly...and today was the day I took a deep breath, pinned the borders in place and went for it! Whoohoo...I am so glad this is all in one piece! Thank you, Bonnie, for a really fun mystery. I will never, ever again use paper to piece strings...I just do not have the patience to pick it all out...I am afraid there will be little pieces of paper in amongst the batting...sorry all you quilt police! I love the weight visually and physically of the pieced border...love that part the very best, and the movement of the pieces.
If you ever have wanted to try wool applique? This is a very forgiving and fun quilt by Jo Morton...I so enjoyed hand blanket stitching the flowers. And the plaid...of course, I love that! Used what I had on hand...and don't have a piece left for binding! I will have to improvise...
Speaking of wool...I have a shoebox full. That is a lot, truly, although some people have tons more...that amount is all I will need for sure. I used very little in the quilt above, and have this bundle I bought at a quilt show last year. I want someone to have this bundle! Your Orca Bay is beautiful - I am kicking myself that I didn't start this now. I followed along with the yahoo group and printed all the clues but just didn't get round to it. I have done 2 of Bonnies mysteries before and they are so lovely - 1 is completely done and the other is resting at border stage - might get to that this year :-) I would love to be in with the chance of the woolly giveaway.. I have never used it although I have 3 fat eighths I bought last year to make an Autumn table topper - maybe this year for that too - lol xx

Your wool quilt is very cute. Blanket stitching is one type of handwork I do enjoy, but don't include me in the drawing. For some years now wool makes me itch badly.
I'm with you. Piecing on paper is ok until you have to remove said paper. What a mess. Your Orca Bay project turned out beautiful, despite added paper bits, and your applique project is a so very nice. Love the wool you are giving away so hope it comes to my house.

Love your quilts - was in the process of doing some hand stuff when Bonnie's mystery started so printed off the instructions and put some fabric together for it, but that's as far as it got. Was just at a local quilt shop and picked up 2 bags of Jo Morton scraps - cheap. Wish I had picked up a couple more they were 2 inch strips. Think I would enjoy wool, but just have not started it. Really don't need to start a new hobby. Hope you are staying warm - it's -2 degree right now in northern Iowa -- Robert.
