I did get the quilt that was my neighbors wedding quilt. It was really, really under priced for what it is, in my opinion. This is the one I spoke of last post. I do love the colors and tiny stitches in the quilting...a single fold applied binding finishes it off. Pretty, huh? Someone tell me the name of the pattern!! Now I can honor this sweet lady and keep her wedding quilt...Rosie, stay off this one, pretty please!
This represents a ton of work...the next plaid quilt is well on the way. I need 540 1/2 square triangles, and I have 340 done. Just a few of the four patches done...this is taking a long time for some reason!!

Actually, the quilt pattern is Ohio Rose, popular in the early 1900s. The Rose of Sharon or Whig Rose has a central circular, layered center with 4 stems out to 4 quadrants leading to leaves or smaller buds. There were many versions of Rose of Sharon, commonly in red, green and gold.
Beautiful Quilt. So glad you got it. Yes, I just printed off Bonnie's first instructions. I also have signed up to one of her workshops that our Annapolis quilt guild is having in Feb. Gee, maybe this will be a chance to use some of the reds and blues I have.

I googled both pattern names and the patterns come up just about identical. My first reaction when I saw the quilt was "Rose of Sharon".
I think it is Rose of Sharon, very soft and feminine.

Absolutely charming wedding quilt. My grandmother had one similar to that one that is now at my mothers and someday will be mine, although I hope not for a very long time.

I would love to do one of Bonnie's mysteries, but this time of year doesn't really work for me. Sure would us up a lot of my scraps though! And I could try her string method. Still thinking about it.
Wonderful quilt from your neighbour-if it is not already labeled you should add its history and photo document it with its story for all future quilters to enjoy.
It's beautiful and I'm happy you were able to get it!!! I find on occassion old quilts at Goodwill makes me sad that the family had no love for their history but they come home with me and I'm happy to have them only wish I knew their stories ;0

I think it is a Rose of Sharon also. I made one similar to it in 1980. It is beautiful.
