Borders on the plaid quilt along...

OK, so here is the state of the borders...this scrappy plaid border is on!! This border is more gray/brown tone than I like, but those are the scraps I had, so they all went in! I love those pops of bright colors, don't you?? Nine patches in the corner of the borders, too...those were fun. I have some plaid bright pink lame' (spelling?) in there...I have no idea where in the world I got that fabric, but it shows up in my scrap bins from time to time like an old friend!
So here is the border. In the original quilt, there are more borders, and I am thinking about that...of course, you can do whatever you want and stray where ever your mind takes you!! That is what I love about quilting...you can just do anything at all that pleases you! NO rules here!
Except for this rule...FINISH UP YOUR UFO"S, JULIE!!!! This is just a little self imposed rule that I pay little attention too, but I need to! Now, those of you who know me, you know I have quite a few UFO's...double digit numbers for sure...but this project above is one of the oldest. I have been taking a few minutes here and there and hand appliqueing all those Dresden plates down...and I am done! I just need to set the blocks together, and an old, old UFO will almost be done!!

***********************Health************************

I have had hyperthyroidism for a while now...but now my labs are much improved. When you are hyperthyroid, you can eat just about any dang thing you want to! I thought I was just being super good on my diet, but that is magical thinking, the thinking that you can have candy bars and junk food and still lose weight...it was fine when my thyroid was in hyper drive, but now?? I have gained a few pounds back! The party is over ladies! I am back on the diet bandwagon...not really a diet, but eating better and weight watching, and walking every day. I want to catch this before I gain a bunch of weight...not going to happen if I can help it! At my age, weight gain can happen quickly...so, a few of my dear friends and I have a little wager going...whoever can lose the biggest percent of body weight by Halloween gets the prize!! I am pretty competitive...and this is wonderful! Working great...a great motivator. I am please to see the scale sailing right back down again...and I am keeping on, keeping on!

Maybe you want to start a little friendly competition with your friends!!!

Have a super day!

Julie

The plaids are fabulous....of course! And your UFO dresden plate is sweet! Are you going to sash it, or just join as is?

I have the opposite thyroid issue....can't lose a pound no matter what! Trying to get the meds at the right level, but it's taking a long time. I kindof wish they would give me the meds that put it at hyperdrive....for a little while anyway, just to lose a few pounds! lol

Love the plaid's border as is on this one. It looks like you are close to another couple of finishes. Strong work!
Glad to hear your thyroid function is leveling...hope that means better sleep :-)

Love your plaid quilt! I just love how it has turned out. Also love your dresden's! I started a dresden quilt, I have 30 of them pieced but need to buy background fabric for them and finish them up

Both of these quilts are so great. Love the scrap quilts you do!
I have two Dresden plates and I cheated on both of them. One is a vintage top I bought in a thrift store--haven't quilted it yet. The other is made from blocks I purchased online and then set with matching fabrics I had. It is in my profile photo. They don't begin to compare with yours. Congrats on getting them all stitched!!

I'm weight watching too ... put on a few pounds in the spring, and you're right ... when you reach a certain age, a few pounds will quickly become a whole lot of pounds. :-o

I've been getting up at 5:30 to walk before it gets too hot and then trying to sneak in another form of exercise each day, too. I am starting to see results.

Still loving this quilt - managed a few more string blocks myself but I think I have to take my time over this one.

Great to see that you are making progress on those UFOs - I know the feeling! I have a list of 10 now I think I am trying to conquer...getting there but then I see your lovely quilts and start making new ones!

Love the plaid quilt and what a lot of pieces! Wonderful dresden quilt, that would take a while to hand sew them on. Good luck with your walking and competing with your friends!

Julie, The plaid quilt is wonderful. It will be interesting to see what you decide on the final border. Good luck on the UFO's and weight control. (Earlier comment deleted as I should have spell checked first!)
