Betsy's great celebration nine patch exchange hired man's quilt!!...something to note...and fabric too!

Guess what? I got an e-mail from Betsy Chutchian!! She is the author of the quilting pattern book "Gone to Texas". This is a great book, and one of the most interesting parts is that her Great, great grandmother's diary excerpts are included! I made the above quilt, based on her quilt, but mine is different...see below!!
This is a little piece of Betsy's quilt! The cross blocks are placed differently...Betsy noticed that mine was different, and so we wanted you to be aware. I love both versions!!
And guess what else? Betsy designs fabrics!! I recently bought her newest collection, from Lone Star House of Quilts. Now some of you may know, I hardly EVER buy collections, preferring to use up my scraps...but I could not resist these gorgeous fabrics!! You can get some too...www.lonestarhouseofquilts.com.

I have been working with my husband on the back fence, all this long weekend, in between work. It is quite, quite hot...we have been drinking water and Gatorade by the gallon!! I will be so happy to have a new back fence, we are putting in a cement curb and metal poles...it will last forever! (hopefully)...

I want to work on the plaid quilt!!! Hopefully I can squeeze some time out of this week to work on it...hey guess what? I got an e-mail from the PLAID QUILT DESIGNER!!!! I had emailed Evelyn Sloppy and asked if it was OK to do a quilt along, based on her pattern...and she said yes!! She will follow along with us...so I better get crackin' on that quilt!

Y'all have a great day!

How super exciting!!! …and yeah I do happen to know from our visit that you rarely buy fabric - ESPECIALLY A WHOLE BUNDLE but girlfriend this is the bestest, yummiest line to come along in a long time. Good buy me-thinks. "Gone to Texas" is a great book, too. And I love your quilt. I love your version, Betsy's version and probably will love my own version because… you know we all like a good change-up! ;0 --- except I'm working on Soldiers Parade and there's no changes allowed there.

That is a great selection of fabrics, now I see why you were so tempted. My g.f. loves Evelyn Sloppy patterns, I've quilted a couple of them for her, one she won a 2nd place in a judged show. New fence, sounds great. I need one, but instead I got a guy from work to come and do "repairs" My neighbor will not pay/help so we fixed it nice on my side! :-)

Your new quilt is just stunning Julie! It looks ever so comfy and 'down home'. In a quilt, that's a very good thing! How exciting to have the personal contact with those quilt book authors, and Evelyn following your progress. Keep drinking and trying to stay cool. Hugs, Finnie

Beautiful, scrappiness! I just love all your quilts.
That is so fun that you had contact with quilt designers!
I just got back from a week in Canada, but I actually tried to buy that book before I left. Couldn't find it in town yet.
What is the plaid quilt? I'm not all caught up on my blog reading--maybe I just missed it.
