Bits and Pieces and BOM obsessions!

HI Y'all!! I am just so ticked with these little tiny quilt blocks...you can still catch up and make this darling quilt too! See Lori's blog Humble quilts here!! These are under 4 inch finished.
Above is Barbara Brackman's latest civil War quilt block...until tomorrow that is!! She posts a new one each Saturday. I am bound and determined to keep up!! Please see her blog here, it is full of history too, and this is going to be a really fun quilt!!
Here is my first Birdie block from Little Miss Shabby...please see her!! For some reason, my pattern printed out a lot larger than the block that was supposed to be 8.5 inches, so I just made it larger...I am going to use all my polka dots for the edgings on each block. Fun!
I just made these out of the scrap bins...1.5 inch and 2.5 inch bins. I don't have any idea what I will do with them....

So, if I do all the BOM's I want to do, I cannot eat, sleep or work!! Sigh...so I will just do what I can and enjoy seeing the rest!!!

************************Nurse's notes****************

The hyperthyroid patient:

She (me) has had all the testing, scanning, ultra sounding done...and had my big reveal doctor's appointment today...I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease. I learned that it is associated with other autoimmune diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. So, now I just need to decide how to treat it, with thyroid killing drugs, radiation, or surgery. I am not a big fan of any of these options....but will consider each carefully and prayerfully and make a decision this weekend and go for it!

Thanks for letting me share...since this is my diary of sorts, this helps with the catharsis part of dealing with all this...

Have a super week!!

Lots of fabric play at your house, all so fun and different. If we didn't need sleep, wouldn't we all play a lot more :)

Sorry to hear your diagnosis involves considering scary stuff. Sending you healing thoughts and best wishes for the choice that makes the most sense to you.

Love all your blocks! I enjoy seeing your progress. I went through a few months of hyperthyroidism (diagnosed as Graves disease) and finally had my thyroid radioactively killed off since I had no other option by that point. After getting regulated on replacement thyroid I am doing great. Good luck.

I have Hashimotos thyroiditis, or at least that's what they said in 1984 when I had one lobe removed. I thought it was hypothyroidism, not hyper?? Anyway, I take one little pill each morning and am living a normal, healthy life. No big deal. Love your blocks.

You are such a talented quilter and blogger and I've really enjoyed reading your blog & seeing your beautiful quilts. Hate to hear that you have to deal with something like this. However, it is encouraging to read all the other comments from people who are successfully living with thyroid problems. I will pray for you!

Well my friend the patient (U) have a heavy burden. I know you'll make the wisest decision for U now that you have a definitive dx. I know this because you're grounded in faith. I've been with you, sat with you, shared time with you. I believe in you and I know you have a place in your heart where you believe in yourself. You'll receive lots of notes of support today and thru the weekend so that will help. You'll feel the love and kindness. That ALWAYS helps. Gosh don't I know that.

Now, as for all the piecing you're doing - Yippie!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your birdie block looks great! Mine printed out big the first time too so I checked my printer settings and there was one that said fit to page. Once I unchecked that it printed the right size.

Your projects are so fun!! And so many going on. I love how Midnight Stars sparkle with the blue you chose.
At least you know now what is causing your health problems and you have a few options to fix it.

You are having so much fabric fun at your house! Too bad there are not enough hours in the day to do all the creative things we want to do, eh?
So glad to hear you have a diagnosis and can get on the road to feeling better, whichever treatment you chose.

Wow, you've got some fun projects going on, Miss Julie. I have BOM envy of your BOM obsession. LOL

BTW, I love your scrappy churn dash(?) blocks. Very, very cute.

I appreciate that you've shared your story of your challenges with your thyroid. I believe it's the most misdiagnosed illness in women.

Love those tiny blocks, but you would need many to make a lap size quilt. But worth all the work.

Hi Julie, so sorry you have to make such a decision - but I know you'll find the best course for you. I'm sending you hugs and healing thoughts. o:)

I've been meaning to comment for days on your AMAZING and FABULOUS array of quilts all cut out and organized so nicely. Honestly, I am in AWE of such organization, and cutting ability. Making fabric decisions and cutting are my less favorite parts of the whole process. Once the decisions are made and the pieces cut, the fun begins.

My best to you regarding your medical care. I know you will come out stronger than ever.

Libby said...

Love to see all your projects in progress - very inspiring *s*

I know you will make the decision that is right for you. Keeping you in my thoughts as you work through the entire process.

What a horrible decision to make ... but I guess it is a relief to know that what you are dealing with has a name. Will be thinking of you as you consider your options.
Great churn dash blocks :)

"The big reveal" - haven't heard it called that before...good luck with your decision.

Got to say for a person who isn't feeling well you certainly get a lot of piecing done! You rock!

Goodness girl you have been busy. I was going to make Lori's blue and cheddar stars but who knows things happen.

Sorry you have some tough choices to make, but glad you have a diagnosis now. That gives you something to work with and you know it's treatable.

I had my thyroid removed 7 years ago and have never had an issue since. I also lost two parathyroids, so I pay attention to my blood calcium levels which are easy to manage. My thoughts and prayers will be with you as you incorporate this into your life... Toby

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
