Adding to the Constellation!

HI Y'all!! Barbara Brackman is hostessing a block of the week this year, all about blocks from the Civil War. She is a wonderful quilt historian, and I have read every book she has written. (dont' you just love the library?) I just had to join in! Above is her North Star block...
And her Catch Me if you Can block....both were fun and quick to do. Don't you want to join in? Please see her new blog!! Just click here...
What do you do with your leftover connector triangles? I am going to make pinwheels from each block we make...maybe I can have enough for another quilt!! Really...what do you do?? Her pattern does not make the blocks this way...but anyway, I did!
The roll top desk design wall.....

**********************Nurse's Notes*********************

I went by a room several times yesterday while working at the hospital, and heard a quiet murmuring voice...I stopped and listened for a second on the way to the linen closet, and heard a darling man voicing a quiet prayer..."Please dear Lord, continue to bless me as you have this past 91 years, and see to those who look out over me..."....it was so sweet, and heartfelt...He was just a darling man...not my patient but a blessing to me none the less.

The hyperthyroid patient (me), is going for a nuclear thyroid scan on Monday and Tuesday...a two day test, so then I will know what in tarnation is going on with the thyroid storm!!! Not a real thyroid storm, if it were, I would be deathly ill, but I call it my own little private thyroid storm, kind of a little whirlwind instead of the full tornado!!!

******************************************************************

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!

Julie

Oh it would be patients like him that would make the day go by better. Bless that old man.

I'm excited that you are doing those blocks too! I think I'm really going to like it!

I'm in that one, too, and have my blocks done. I did the "no waste" flying geese and so have no little triagles and now feel a little sad. Yours look so nice.

How did I know that we could not resist this wonderful project?!? I need to buy some more fabric first, of course!
Hope you are studying for your tests :)
If you pass, maybe we'll have another celebration swap?!?

I love your blocks. I hope your tests go okay. Thanks for sharing the prayer of the 91 year old patient. It went along ways since it touched me too.

What nice blocks!

My brother had Graves... his thyroid gave him grief after my father died. He lost a ton of weight and didn't sleep at all for weeks before he finally went to the doctor. Sadly he will always have the eye issue, but he is treated and feels a million times better. Hope you feel better. And I love your story about the 91-year-old man :o)

I've made HST from my leftovers, but I usually make pinwheel blocks. Sometimes I use them on the back, or try to incorporate them in the border, or maybe save them for a different quilt. I'm waiting for my Civil War FQs to come so I can start sewing :)

Pretty blocks! I like your pinwheels. Those scraps are finding a home right away, good for you, Julie :) I know I could not keep up with a block a week.

My MIL is 91--for a couple more weeks, LOL, and I bet she says a prayer like this too :)

Hope your storm peters out quick. I know those nuclear scans are a pain in the rear ( I type for the physiology dept and transcribe the cardiologist's portion of the pharmacologic/nuclear tests).

I wish I had the time to do this block of the week. I'm following along so I'll quilt vicariously through your blocks! What a sweet patient. Good luck with your tests.

Wow...what a blessing to hear that prayer...91 years old! That's awesome!

I love the pinwheel block. Heading over to hear blog to take a looksie! Thank you and hope you get your thyroid issue sorted. I'm waiting for answers to a medical issue too...it's frustrating to say the least!

Those are great blocks. I have been seeing lots and lots of HST's around on blogs lately. I think I need to make some. Good luck with your scans!

Isn't that blog wonderful with the history! I do enjoy it. Wonderful idea for you to multi-task with your extra pieces!

Love your new blocks. I love reading the history as well. This is a great block offer she is doing.
What a sweet encouragement to hear during your day! I'm praying that God blesses that pt with caregivers who really are encouraged by him to.
Hope you are hanging in there with waiting for treatment. So many tests...hope there is a good plan for fixing the issue soon. I'm glad it is moving forward and I'm praying for you.
Is the new unit working out well?

Your blocks are really nice, and what a great idea to make pinwheel blocks with the leftovers!
Hope your tests are goos and they find out what's wrong. I'll be thinking of you!

Isn't this a great project? Got mine done, too. Patients like your 91 year old, they make it all worth it don't they? Hope you get some answers with your thyroid.

WOW....... I loved your boxes with quilts already cut out. You have a busy year ahead. Seems as though many of us are doing the same thing.

Great log cabin quilt. They are a favorite of mine and yours is lovely.
