Happy Thanksgiving! the day after...

Sawtooth borders have appearing on the Friendship Plaids quilt...no corner is alike due to lack of planning (serendipity?). I would have liked them to match...but hey, original is good too. Big stitch quilting for this one!! It is just lap sized...dear husband mentioned he would like it bed sized, but I already had the borders on at that point. Every fabric is a plaid in this quilt, except the background. I would like more plaid backgrounds, but I can never find any...
The apple pie...with enough apples for two! Really, all these will cook down and it will be just right. This was made at 3 AM...an insomnia pie! Yum!!! Does this insomnia thing end when perimenopause ends?? Just curious, you ladies who have been down this path. The kids are coming today, to celebrate...I can't wait to see them and the grand-dogs!!

I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing, wonderful day!

Julie

I love the border! It's perfect for that quilt!!
The apple pie looks fantastic although I don't eat apple pie. I'd rather have pumpkin;)

Where do you get these awesome plaids!?!??!? I love them!!! I know what you mean about light ones - the best one I have is a recycled shirt of hubby's, but I need more.

For me...
menopause + shift work = lots of opportunity to quilt (or bake) when other people are sleeping! The pie and the quilt both look great...have a wonderful THanksgiving!

I just love this quilt. I had a wonderful light plaid of a goldish-tan on a yellowish tan. Loved that fabric and totally used it up. Wish I had more.

Your quilt looks just wonderful and it is a tribute to you when hubby wants it bigger for the bed.

I was up at 2:45 this morning...what is up with us? I didn't even have a big turkey dinner......hummmmm

I love that quilt! Plaids are really hard to find.

OK, I am drooling over that pie.

The border is perfect for the quilt! Corners and all. How lucky you were to receive so many lovely plaids. Making a plaid scrap quilt must be every scrapper's dream! Insomnia wasn't one of my menopausal symptoms, but I take an audio book to bed with eme to keep the brain chatter away when I do wake up in the middle of the night. ~karen

Love the plaids, Julie!

Insomnia ends but the hot flashes go on and on and on and on. LOL

The plaid is scrumptious - yes, most of us know about those corners and HSTs! What background did you use - is it a regular cotton or ????

I have a lot of shirt plaids that I must use up and am always stumped when thinking about a cohesive background.

Your quilt looks great and I can almost taste the pie!

Oh Julie that is one of my most favorite quilts!!! Plaids are my all-time favorite. I love it!! :D And what is up with that 'insomnia' business? You are way too busy not to sleep, girl! The pie looks yummy, btw. :D

I love the sawtooth border! You are so motivated, even if I couldn't sleep, I couldn't make a pie. Looks yummy!

I love the plaid quilt and the not so matched corners is a nice touch. That's happened to me too. I can't imagine being awake at 3am, I hope I don't get the insomnia thing.
Yummo on the apple pie.

I want a piece! Apple pie is my favorite. You won't find me in the kitchen at 3 am. More likely to be in the sewing room if I can't sleep.

Your plaid quilts are so great! I love them. I have collected plaids whenever I find them, including thrift store shirts. They are challenging to work with! I'm well past menopause and still have insomnia and occasional hot flashes. The only relief is to take hormones and I chose not to so I spend lots of time sewing in the wee hours.

Hi Julie, The quilt looks great with the sawtooth border. Insommia does not end with perimenopause, you now have lots of time for quilting. Enjoy the grandkids visit. Take care.

Love the plaid quilt! And big stitch quilting will be perfect. The pie looks oh-so-yummy. I bet its all gone by the time I post this! I paid a co-worker and really good baker to make all our pies. They were exceedingly yummy, both apple and pumpkin. Hope your gathering was blissful!

Love the lap quilt! And would love the apple pie, but I'm having enough trouble sticking to my diet without THAT little temptation!

My insomnia pretty much ended when I got the C-PAP, though there are some nights when sleep won't come until 5am. I am several years past menopause, so maybe it doesn't end quite so soon. Just wondering when we transition into those little old folks who go to bed with the chickens?

Oh there is nothing like apple pie! I was so excited to see my girls for Thanksgiving. Well I guess they are just a bit away from full adulthood yet. We had quite a few fights over the 3 day period! Tomorrow the last one goes back to college! wheh!

I like my pies piled high, too. My mother has remarked several times that I am very "generous" that way. But when I eat a pie I like to really enjoy it.

The border is great and I don't blame your husband for wanting more of that quilt, but maybe next time.

Really like the plaid Friendship Pineapple quilt - what is the source of the pattern - one you designed yourself or modified from an existing pattern? What was your light pineapple fabric - a light calico or a muslin? I do wish they had more light colored plaids or homespuns. Tend to pick up scraps when every I can. Love to get inspiration looking at your quilts - keep up the good work. Robert Kent in northern Iowa. (rjkent at netamumai dot com)

Your plaid quilt is awesome, I love plaids also! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your son/DIL.

Right there with you on the plaids - backgrounds can be difficult to find. I have learned to buy 'em when I see 'em. The are happy to wait for a project to come along *s*
As for insomnia, well, I'm right there with you on that one, too. Dangit! I've learned to be productive in my waking hours, whenever they occur and to take naps when the opportunity arises. Hubby enjoys this plan as it keeps the 'cranky level' a little lower *s*

Wow...when I have those brief moments of insomnia, a pie never gets made or baked. I do hope that this phase passes quickly for you!

LOVE your plaid quilt! Are you using pearl cotton for the big stitch? My girlfriend has quilted a number of quilts that way and they are darling!

Happy work week to you, Jules!

Love the quilt and the border is the perfect finishing touch.
And there is no pause in the symptoms of menopause. Sorry to disappoint.

Have you finished this? Yes, it has a border, but you could add more squares onto it anyway. It would give it a different look...a border inside a quilt!

Pie looks good.

The pie yummy, and mercy me lets hope the insomnia ends with the end of peri meany pause LOL...I can't help but call it meany pause, it is you know LOL... ready to just go back to "normal" LOL...

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
