At last a breather!!

I found this pattern in the Nov/Dec issue of McCall's quilting...I like this idea for my nine patches! It is a definite possibility...I like the play of medium and light fabric. Pretty!! I find that I buy quilt magazines and usually find about one project per magazine that I love.
These 1.5 inch squares are part of a recent swap I was fortunate enough to take part in....so you know what that means??
I can make more of these blocks!! Yippee! I have almost all the tree bases paper pieced, and that is just fun. The fact that I have them done is fun...not the paper piecing necessarily... I find I waste a ton of fabric while paper piecing...do you? How can I get better at this??

These blocks are part of Cheryl's quilt along...I love these autumn colors! I am considering how to set them...probably different from anyone else...now that's no surprise, I am sure, to anyone!!

I have been working a lot, and back to it again tomorrow...hardly a chance to breath! So on to the rest of the housekeeping and laundry, so I can be ready for this busy week.

I've never done anything with paper piecing, but I love the tree squares. I borrowed a book from the library with a cute tree square...I am looking forward to making it.

That tree pattern is my favorite pattern in a long time - it would be a fun one to do...even if not made with scraps...maybe all in just fall colors....

They all look wonderful. I love paper piecing I don't think I waste too much material I have never thought about it much.

I like how every other star in the pattern has a very dimensional look to it.

I really like the pattern you have in mind for using your 9-patches. I enjoy paper-piecing but I do waste fabric, too. I try not to let it worry me! LOL

Hi Julie, love all the progress you are making! What a lot of things in the works and such good progress.
Congrats on your super large Irish Chain, it looks great, and so do the blocks from the Ashes and Soot sampler! You go girl! Hugs, Finnie

I like the design for the nine patches swap. Have not come up with a design for mine yet, still thinking.

No help with paper piecing - I avoid that technique like the plague.

Love teh quilt with nine patches!! Isn't it fun to think of the possibilities?
There is a lot of waste with pp. What are you pp on the trees? The bottom section? Do you have to do it that way?

Lots of inspiration found right here... great projects going on; well done. Now, to comb through my scraps and snippets in an effort to create something similar! (I love that pattern in McCall's too!!)

I love that pattern for the 9 patch blocks! Hope you make it! I find that paper piecing does waste fabric, but I keep all the little bits for minis.

I love the mccalls quilt for using 9 patches. I always waste fabric when paper-piecing too, but sometimes it is a necessity. Love how the crab apple blocks are coming on :)

I bought that issue of McCall's quilting today (a bit behind in the UK) for that quilt, I love it!

How fun to see that someone else is doing Cheri's Ashes & Soot quilt in red fabrics like mine! I've got all the blocks pieced and sewn together - now for the applique!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
