Hi Y'all!! It has been a week since I posted...and I have worked, and studied (for CCRN certification...when I am going to take the test already?), and cleaned...and quilted, and got to visit with my darling son and daughter-in-law...so all in all, a wonderful week. And to top it off!?? I got this in the mail today! The huge, blue and white and yellow monster wonderful quilt!! You may remember that Debi, my friend of Debi quilts gave me the pattern. Darcie of October's Child Quilting fame did this for me...I am floored again at how wonderful her quilting is. The loops and curls are so even and straight and lovely! Thank you, Darcie, so much!
Remember, I was trying to use up all the yellows in the stash...and came darn near doing that. Even the backing was a gift from a friend, fabric she could not imagine needing anymore. Yards, and yards, and yards of yellow!
And in other news...but you will have to wait to see...I have another quilt ready for binding. My 1997 UFO sampler quilt is done! I want to have it all done so you can see...another day. I am delighted, and want to tell it's story in another post.
Dear Jane,
How are you doing? Today I think you may have been a bit preoccupied, but the blocks you made are so pretty, and remind of a down home Southern girl underneath those intricate blocks...you included some plaid! Really, in the original quilt, Jane did use a few plaids, so I can too, right? I have finished row 3!! Wow...I think I am sticking to it! It is truly so much fun to be so proud of one block...Pat!!! of a little bit of Pat!! I am paper piecing---really and truly ! Pat graciously did a paper piecing block 'cause I could not figure it out...I am doing it!
So far, this is what I have.
Nine patches! See, Jane...I think you really are a down to earth lady...and where in the world are all your other quilts?? Is your Dear Jane quilt the only one to survive the Civil War? Please ignore the threads...that is a common theme with me, and I will cut them all off the next insomnia night, as I am trying to be quiet as a mouse.
Caladiums, a week later...see how wet the ground is? We have had such lovely, soaking, steady rains...I know the farmers must be so happy for God's bounty. The Caladiums love it! Amazing when I look at the picture only one week ago, how much they have grown.
Well....I always seem to post on Thursday, Wednesday's weigh in...and I weigh the same. I walked around our route, which is 1.5 miles today, and intend to get serious now about getting to goal~! NO more fooling around!! (pep talk to self...)
Have a most wonderful Fourth, all you quilter's here in the states.
Gratitude's!
1. Life giving and caladium growing rains.
2. Darling Rosie dog...she is a constant delight. She can catch her toy on the run now!
3. Of course, my dear family
4. Plenty to eat...so much that I have to be on weight watchers!

The quilt turned out a true winner...love those colors!
Now when is your CCRN certification test? Have you heard anymore about the "Move"?
Have a great and safe 4th/
LOVE your blue and yellow quilt and YAY for you that you have mastered paper piecing. I told you it wasn't hard!!
Love the quilt, I've always loved blues and yellows.
Girl...get that test done and off your mind. I put off my CEN forever and after I took it I thought what was I worried about....then I stood very still until the results printed and I passed with flying colors. You know the stuff....now get credit for it!!
Happy Quilting,
Shelia
Your blue/yellow quilt turned out stunning. Your quilter did a great job!
Love the quilt....just love it....and your dear Jane is coming right along....
At least you did not gain...
The spirals are grand on this quilt. And look at you go with your Dear Jane. Maybe this is the better way, a row at a time vs bouncing all over with little blocks. Your strip method shows great rewards for your work.
Wow, that quilt turned out just beautiful. Simply gorgeous!! Keep on plugging away on Jane, it is looking phenomenal.
Your quilt looks fantastic. Don't they come alive once they are quilted!
You have been working hard, completing 3 rows of Jane, no small task there and I can't believe how quickly your plant has grown.
Oh, Julie! Your blue and yellow sampler quilt looks spectacular! Great job and another great finish!
Happy 4th to all of you. Rosie too!
The blue and yellow sampler quilt is amazing! Love the quilting design.
I love it! I have that same pattern, kitted and everything, and have yet to start. Seeing how beautiful your's is, it has me thinking I need to get started on mine.
I love how the quilt turned out
Beautiful
Wow, the blue, white and yellow quilt is stunning...love it. Is it too soon to wish you luck on your test. Dear Jane is doing well. Have a great weekend, quilting?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that quilt! If it ever needs a home, especially one in North Carolina, I know a nurse who would swoon over it! It is so bright and cheerful and what a wonderful quilting job!
Kudos to you for doing paper piecing. That's something I have not been able to wrap my head around.
The caladiums look great! Obviously you've found the perfect spot for them.
The quilting really compliments the quilt and it seems like it was done so quickly!!! Fabulous!!!
Your stickle blocks are coming along so nicely! Woo-Hoo!!
Your blue and yellow quilt is FABULOUS! The quilting is perfect for it and it is stunning! You must be tickled pink (or blue and yellow) that it turned out so great!
Gorgeous finish, Julie! The quilting looks just lovely. Glad you are getting rain--we probably won't have any again until October.
Dear Jane is definitely approving of your blocks, I can tell :)
Have a great holiday!
The quilt is absolutely gorgeous and the texture of the quilting looks perfect for it! The DJ is coming along well too - congrats :)
A good finish on the blue & yellow quilt! The swirls quilting complements the quilt so well. And it is very well done. I know you are happy with this one. It has happy looking colors.
Blue and yellow have never looked so good together! Absolutely lovely and full of interest. Great work!
Your post is also full of interest. Jane would be happy to hear of your work.
Happy Fourth to you! Your blue and yellow quilt is fabulous! The quilting looks great, too. Good luck with your Dear Jane!
Sounds like you had a great week! The blue and yellow "monster" is awesome, and I am in awe of you Dear Jane blocks. Keep up the great work :cD
You are getting so much done on your Dear Jane... Its going to be wonderful!
and I love the blue and yellow monster :O) tee hee... that surely came out nice!!
Your yellow and blue quilt is magnificent! And the quilting is wonderful! Oh that Darcie! Isn't it thrilling to get a quilt back and have it quilted to perfection!
That is gorgeous!! The quilting just enhances the beauty!!
I have seen this pattern done in red and whites, but I dig how it looks in the yellow and blue, just stunning.
The finished quilt is LOVELY! Darcie did a wonderful job with the quilting...swirls are one of my favorite quilting designs.
