Jane...that quilt!

Dear Jane....I have been working on this pretty steadily for the last two days, until now. Wow! These blocks are absorbing, fascinating...and fun! I have not been so jazzed up about a project for a long time, so I will have to pace myself and have a plan on how I am going to do this. I have a lot of work to do for my work and also for our home, so I have to kind of work Jane in around things and other quilts too.
A fun block...paper pieced.
Another paper pieced block...fun! I think there are about 40 pieces in this little 5 inch block. Excuse the threads, I usually trim them all at once when I have a bout of insomnia.
And another favorite!
Let me tell you a little about Jane (the quilt, not the person). She is a messy quilt!! See above...couldn't be me, it must be the quilt.

She(the quilt) is also a temptress!! She lures me in when I should be mopping and cleaning and working on my CCRN exam prep...the hoyden!

A little about Jane, the person...what a cool lady! The Stickle Quilt (Dear Jane) was made in war time. Now remember, no electric lights, no anything like the luxuries we have now. Jane was an amazingly talented lady it seems, and I am glad to be able to know her a little bit through her quilt. Weird that I have grasped hold of this all of a sudden...many years of looking at and admiring these quilts, and now at all at once I am off on my own Dear Jane journey.

Tallies so far:

Time spent: 8 hours, 40 minutes
Pieces: 209

Wishing you all a wonderful week! This project will probably be shown only when I have a row or something, otherwise all you will be snoring in your oatmeal.

Very cool little blocks!
Doesn't paper piecing make a mess!
Very excited to enjoy tagging along as you document this journey (so that I don't have to take it myself LOL)!

Do you draw off your pattern - or - print it off on the computer?

Either way - some very pretty blocks.

Your Jane is coming along nicely. It is a beautiful quilt. I have a friend making it. She is about half way there. Good luck. I wish my attention span was longer!

Looks wonderful, except for all that paper piecing. You know me and paper piecing do not mix well. Have a wonderful day and take care.

WOW! You got a lot accomplished and they are all darling little blocks. I have always loved the Dear Jane blocks, but have not taken the time to start any. Have fun!

It's looking really good so far. I have a friend who pieced her Dear Jane in four months...crazy woman! And she didn't paper piece a single one!

Just lovely....it's tough going to keep the balance in our lives when a quilt is calling us!

Just finished my Dear Jane -- it took 2 years. I did it in honor of my son who joined the Air Force. It definitely is addicting. Keep up the good work

Wow!! You have made quite a few blocks already! Dear Jane certainly is addictive.
Beautiful work!

You are going great guns with your Dear Jane. It sucks you in doesn't it. I like you, find it amazing how she made that quilt way back when. Just the maths to make each little block astounds me.

Beautifully aligned blocks! I know, I keep thinking the same thing about her as I make mine. Then I think, maybe we wouldn’t like her if we were to meet her today. She had to be awfully driven to accomplish that quilt with the tools of the time. Yikes!

You are so disciplined to do them a row at a time. My sister and I bounce around and work on whatever we feel like. It looks wonderful so far. Are you using the book and the software?

I like what you've done so far! I should probably send you the Dear Jane ruler set I bought years ago on clearance somewhere. It has the triangle ruler and a small square ruler. I feel quite sure I will never make an Insane Jane quilt!

What a project! I admire the perseverance it takes to finish a quilt top like this, keep giving us updates!

I love paper foundation on these blocks! And looking at your project, I want to go back to mine, my DJ blocks have rested too long in the closet! Very nice work!!!

Good for you on starting a Dear Jane journey! My journey lasted for 16 blocks and then I gave up on her. I didn't find the blocks to be fun, so I thought it was time to quit! I have a nice wall hanging though!!!!! Have fun!

Wow, you have the bug allright. I have a friend hand piecing these blocks and it terrifies me. Your method is more up my alley.

Your DJ blocks are wonderful! You really took off with those! I am also working on a DJ quilt VERY slowly. But that's okay - for me it is a long term project to work on in between other projects. But it sure is satisfying when each new block is made. I can't wait to see your progress!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
