Little bitty distractions...

This is my current distraction, along with Bonnie's new mystery quilt. The above nine patch finishes at (gulp) 1.5 inches. The picture looks warped, but the blocks are so cute and nice and square. I put in the pen so you could see the unfinished size. The nine patches go into this quilt below. I saw it on Libby's blog, at http://www.simplylibby.blogspot.com/. I asked her permission to try to make the quilt in miniature and she said yes, so away I went!!

These are the blocks that are made from the nine patches. They are 4 1/2 inches square, and that is pretty little for me, and I have learned lots attempting to make this little bitty distraction! I am just going to put 12 blocks in the quilt, Libby's has 16, and a little different border. This has been so fun!! The fabric is a navy stars fabric that has been in the stash for years and years...time for it to come out and play!

Hope each of you has a wonderful day!!

Finish at 1.5" ~ now that's amazing. The blocks themselves at 4.5" - why that's fantastic. Oh I love the fabric and the size.

How exciting. This is going to be loads of fun!

That is darling! See...you've put your own Julie-esque Twist on an already great pattern! And the fabric couldn't be more perfect for something so TINY! Hope Rusty doesn't get hold of any! ;-)

Yikes, girl! Now that is teeny tiny but you are doing a great job on it.

I am afraid I would be too much of a fumble fingers to even attempt it. Shoot, I won't work with any strip smaller than 1 1/2 inch with few exceptions.

Very cool! I love the look of mini quilts, but I am far from attempting one!

That will be a great mini. A distraction? Only 80, 9 patch blocks to make for double delight.

Hi Julie, Happy New Year to you and yours *VBS* Hope that special 'someone' loved the pink quilt!!
Your little Libby-Look-Alike is wonderful! Waaaay too small for my abilities, but so cute and charming in its tiny-ness.
The new years HST quilt is also adorable. Love that you got that bulky doubled binding figured out. I've only done ONE double thick binding in all my years of quilting, and on a nearly full size quilt. Everytime I see it now, I'm still tempted to take it off and rebind with a single width. People just aren't as hard on their bedcovers as they used to be. And a single width is sooo much easier to apply. I look forward to many more little quilts from you in 2009. Big hugs, Finnie

Very cute!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
