Happy New Year!!

My wish for each of you is a most wonderful New Year, full of joy, love, promise and fun! Happy New Year!!!
You may recognize the little quilt in the above picture, made of leftover triangles. You know...I had an epiphany! The binding just never would lay flat, so on a whim I whacked it off! And started again. I put a SINGLE binding instead of the bulky double binding, and it looks just so much better! I am so much happier with it. I learned something, and how fun is that? :)
Hope to get to know each of you more in the coming year.
Goodnight, I have to work tomarrow!!

And red looks better anyway! Happy Quilty 2009! We shouldn't be too prescious with our quilts - I once knew a lady who had a quilt that one a prize at the state quilt show, but she wasn't happy with the border so she un-picked the binding and quilting and re-did the borders! Is that going too far?
Cheers!

PS I did mean won - too hot here to think straight...

It does look better - I agree.

However, the red binding just seems to make it look better.

Have a wonderful 2009...may it be filled with many blessings from God!

I've just fallen in love with little quilts made from leftovers! I"ve made so many this year. I just love this one!

Love it...question about the single binding. Do you still sew it on the FRONT and then press it toward the back (and turn the raw edge under) and hand-stitch it down on the back?

Yes, Julie that is something I do. Only a single binding on the mini's they aren't going to get worn like a big quilt. Cute little quilt.

What a darling little quilt! Don't you just love single binding? I have been using it on most everything for a couple of years now.

My grandmother always said that a day when we didn't learn something was a wasted day... looks like you had a great, productive LEARNING day! I have never learned the single fold method. Will you be posting a tutorial so that I won't waste a day in this new year?

The binding does look good! A good solution to what made you unhappy with the little quilt.

What is a single binding? I know when I make binding, I fold my strip in half - so with a single binding, do you not fold it in half? then do you have to turn it under on the back side when you hem it?

What an adorable quilt! I'm glad you changed the binding, too. It works better with the colors in the quilt.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, Julie!!!

I like the fact your just "wacked it off..." how brave! I've had a couple of quilts that I've wanted to accost with the rotary cutter in hopes of getting them to lay flat but I was never brave enough!

I like the single red so much better! I only just started making single bindings this past year and found that if I starch the fabric good first it is easier.
