I am also helping Lucky, my kitty with this quilt. He does not necessarily take my recommendations. hmmmm.
Have a beautiful day, each of you!!
***********************Nurse's notes****************************
I am ICU full time now. I do some education, precepting and patient care. I love the intellectual stimulation from the kids who work there. What sweethearts they are!! SMART folks, too. I think I am the oldest floor nurse there, or maybe second to oldest. It feels good to help start lines, NG's, resuscitations....to be the subject matter expert at times.
I wish I could make a bigger impact about helping people stay healthy instead of trying to save lives in ICU. I have even pondered a further degree in wellness!! It just seems to me that we are far too indulgent with ourselves here...smoking, drinking, eating...too much is...too much!! And not enough exercise. With the resulting horrible effects. I believe that other countries do better. I hope our dietary stuff improves here. I do try and gently educate the folks who are reachable.

I am so sorry that blogger does not allow me to comment...to receive comments on my blog to Email. Have any of you changed to a different blog company?? Would you please share with me what you did?

Great projects! I love the hourglass quilt.
Such a fun post filled with pictures of nice projects. I’m glad your nursing skills are being used for knowledge in a good way. I agree that lifestyles play such an important role in our wellbeing of nutrition, mental health and overall ability to cope. Maybe add some tidbits with your nurses notes as we can all learn new tricks. Kathy
it is sad to see that many disregard the simple diet and exercise to maintain their health...my mother, in her 90s and slow going, was often unable to get an electric cart because so many younger women who were grossly overweight were using them...so my mom walked...love the purples, it's a color i don't use often...
You have so many wonderful projects going on! Fun times!
You are so right about wellness. I'm so lucky to have found a doctor that focuses on wellness to prevent disease. I wish all doctors worked the same but that's just not how they are trained.
Your quilts are all terrific. The orange squares with white stars remind me of Creamsicles. I've contributed to a couple of group blogs that use WordPress, but I'm so used to Blogger that I'm going to stick with it (unless it becomes WAY too frustrating). Thank you for your thought on nursing and wellness.
Hi Julie!
I love purple, too, and that quilt for your DIL is a charmer.
I also really appreciate the scrappiness of the one you are hand quilting. Baptist Fans is a favorite pattern. Nice choice!
Your orange quilt reminds me of a Pat Sloan pattern I saw in one of my files this week. I remember thinking it was something I should make sometime.
So nice of you to help Lucky with that quilt! LOL The two of you have done a really nice job with it so far. ;)
Amen to your comments about wellness in your nurses notes. I do volunteer work once a week, cleaning a building for our church. It has several floors, and I only take the elevator if I have a large cleaning cart with me. I've even been known to carry a vacuum up or down a couple of flights of stairs. I am the oldest worker, and many of the younger ones talk about how they have started taking the stairs more since I started working there and always take the stairs. That one change alone can make a big difference.
Blogger gave me grief with the comments for quite a while, but for a couple of months now it has been working for me--and I didn't do anything to change it. Go figure.
You were quick getting those orange blocks sewn up
