Design Wall (floor) Monday!

Good morning!!  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  Mine was restful and renewing...just what I needed.  I added the borders to this crazy, wild quilt, to the top and bottom.
I am finding it just a bit homely and ugly...and am also finding that I like it too!! The tiniest pieces of fabric found their way into this quilt.
I am caught up with the Temecula Letters!  Honestly, these take longer to cut out than they do to sew.  Quick, quick!!  You can catch up right here, on the Temecula Quilt Shop Blog.
I have been cutting out lots, and lots, and lots of quilts.  I tend to go through phases of doing that...I sure hope I get them all sewn into something, otherwise, my progeny will wonder what in the world I was up to!!  I am playing with my beloved plaids, above.
Cutting lots of stars out!!  I am loving touching all these homespuns.  Some are rough in texture, while some are smooth and have a flannel-like side.  I love the colors, and can just imagine these plaids on a kilted Scottish warrior of old.  Maybe not the pink plaid...but maybe so!!  My clan plaid was green and brown, I found with a little bit of research.

Thank you so much for letting me blog a little about being a nurse.  It helps to share my experiences with all of you.  Please just skip the nurse's notes if they are not your cup of tea.  I just love being a nurse, so intimately entwined with people's highs and lows in their lives.

Congratulations to Donna K from North Texas!!  Number two was drawn, and you were the number two commenter for the Sandra Dallas book.  Please let me know your snail mail and I will get it to you!!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Julie

Your design floor is full of color and pattern. What a beautiful accomplishment to use all those little tiny pieces. Somedays are for cutting, some days are for sewing and some days it seems that not much gets accomplished, but I'm always amazed at what you get done!

I see two or three pieces of fabric in your strippy border that look familiar!

I am loving the homespun stars. I want to do a star quilt with my plaid shirt collection---someday. *sigh*

Hello my Monday blogging friend! It is Tuesday here in little ole New Zealand. What will you do with all the pieced letters?
BTW loving the scrappy quilt too, glad you had a restful weekend, you deserve it!

Restful and you got a lot accomplished. My mom was a nurse. She loved it, too.

Oh I do like your improv. flying geese. Just wonderful! Sometimes we're in the mood to cut out and sometimes we're in the mood to sew. It all works.:)

The quilt is NOT homely: it is cozy and will be loved by the recipient because love was stitched into it.

I enjoy the highs and lows of your nurse notes. It makes me appreciate the nurses who have cared for me even more.

You always have such fun projects! The flying geese are darling, and it will be great all quilted up and snuggly! Can't wait to see more of the plaid stars! You've got quite a pile cut there! And I love the red/white alphabet! I'm doing them in the Temecula solids - they are so fast to whip up!

the border sure helped to balance it out. good use of scraps ... my first thought was a dark, hand stitched (perle cotton) curvy vine and leaves in the white areas .... or not! LOLOL It's fine just like it is!!

I love your scrappy quilt! It's going to be a great quilt to snuggle under, and just think of all the scrap fabrics that you used up! Now you can go buy more!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
