A small circle...

Working, working, working!  The last five days in a row, 13 hours was the minimum day's hours this stretch...so I am glad to be home, where I can work, at last, on fun stuff! I truly love borders, they are tons of fun to piece, and also to applique.  Above are some leftover flying geese, turned into a coffee table runner with an applique vine, and leftover flowers too.  Oh how I love to use leftover bits to create something new!  Now this is the funny thing...I do not have a coffee table.  Dear husband wants things to be minimalist and not cluttered, so he really does not want a coffee table that I just might clutter  up.  Oh how well he knows me!!  But maybe someday, he will change his mind, LOL!  and I will have just the little runner to put on it!
The corner pieces were leftover flowers from this little quilt.  The lime green looks pretty bright in this picture, but it is really not too bright in person.  I am working on the quilting and binding...I always seem to show a work in progress!!
This is a string top I made last year, I think...
And the border lingered undone until now!  I am making big 1/2 square triangle blocks and making a border of them.  Lots of different hot pinks...so this quilt will definitely be going to a lady!
And this does not look like much, but I have been outline quilting all the blocks on my applique quilt.  My friend Lois said to put in the bones of the quilt first, when I am quilting, to hold it all together, and then add the detailed quilting later. So Lois, I am doing just that.  I think I need a small table or something to drape this across each day, because I want it out and looking at me, so I work on it every day...personification, right??  If it gets put away, I will tend not to work on it.  I need it in my face, begging to be finished!

Hope you all are well and happy and maybe having some time to stitch!!

What I mean by the small circle in my title is the one I run in...like a mouse on a wheel.  Home, work, grocery store, post office, quilt shop occasionally, then back home.  I would like to get out of the cage...how about you??  A trip!!  or something...

Julie

I'm sure we're all familiar with that circle... housework... yardwork... go to work... shopping... cooking... nice to include some fun stuff in that circle: sewing... hiking... and break it up occasionally with a trip, like you say.

Love all your projects. Now go buy a coffee table! :-)

Let's see, I love you table runner, I love your flower quilt, I love your string quilt, and love the quilt you are hand quilting!! Because I am going to be making some small quilts for our guild auction, I was wondering about the size of the flower quilt and where you got the pattern. I would like to make that one! I don't know how you fit in quilting with all the hours you work!

I always love seeing what quilters make from leftovers from other projects. The table runner is adorable. Hugs

I think we all feel like that sometimes and is it a groove or a rut? We jumped in the car on Monday and drove to LaConner, WA to see the tulip fields. Google it if you don't know about the tulip festival. It was sunny and it didn't involve errands/bill paying/quilting/work. I don't have a coffee table either!

Love those happy flowers :-)
No sewing in my squirrel cage but I did get that raveled quit top re-ironed. I have the backing and batting already on the frame but will have to get back home to quilt it.
I'm living at my Mom's for two weeks. She is doing pretty well. Feels like another world and it's only about a mile from my house 😉

DH must know what he is talking about. Apparently if you had a coffee table, your applique quilt would be draped over it to remind you to work on it--then no one would see that cute runner!! : )
Your projects are always inspiring, Julie, and so are you!

Oh Julie, you crack me up. ... and no coffee table! You're funny. But it is a shame to be stuck with no coffee table because it is such a BEEAAUUTIFUL little quilt. I guess you'll have to turn it into a wallhanging quilt! But it gave me an idea, an inspiration. I would like to do a border like that but not sure I know how but if I start small, it would be a good practice and then ... oh thank you Julie for sharing all your beautiful work. I never leave your post empty headed. thank you.

Glad you get to be home for a few days. That's a hard work schedule to keep up. Love your coffee table runner, which, we all guess, will have to be used some other special place...for awhile.

That is awful hard to work 5 long days in a row. DS is an RN too and he works those long days - actually nights. Not very often does he do 5 nights in a row - don't really know. I think you really need a coffee table. :-) Such a cute little runner. I love string quilts too.

Look at all your projects!! They are all beautiful and you are working so much! You amaze me.

Do you have a fireplace mantle? I like to display narrow quilts there. We don't have a coffee table any longer but do have a gigantic footstool in its place. I can drape a quilt over a corner of it.
