Wednesday!!

Hi, everyone!!! Just worked yesterday, then off today. We took a whirlwind trip to the farm and worked the weekend too, putting up gates. I have a lovely sunburn, sore muscles...and really enjoyed it so much! The gates are really nice, going into the farm, and will be more secure.

The big news is...I finished row five of the Dear Jane Quilt! Do you hear that, Jane!!? Only eight more rows to go on the center. Jane...I had to alter a couple of your wonderful blocks...after 5 tries and ripping it out (something I do rarely anyway)...I decided, hey this is supposed to be a treat, not a TREATMENT, so I made a little different block than in your quilt, Jane...I know you won't mind!! Quilting is supposed to be fun, after all...and finishing row five was certainly a treat. Thanks, Jane! Modeling done free of charge by our lovely Rosie...who will not get out of the middle of whatever I am doing. I love that Rosie baby dog!!
Look, look!!! More nine patches are coming all the time...these are from Caryl, at www.carylquilts.blogspot.com. These are the most gorgeous reds ever!! And Christmas charm squares...my mind is already whirling about how I can enjoy those...and the cutest card, all about nurses! Thank you, Caryl! Please go and say hi on her blog...you will enjoy her work!
Shari!!of Mumsyblossom....sent the most gorgeous pink and brown nine patches ever! I love that color combination...so pretty...and she laid down a challenge too! she included this gorgeous fabric and said..."use it in your Dear Jane"! so...drumroll please....I did!! See below...

Threads and all...here is my block, Shari!! I love, love this fabric...and will use it again in the quilt too. Thank you so very much!!!

*****************************Weight loss Wednesday******************

Hey, really, y'all...I am a Yo-yo! I am up and down, up and down on the scale...a pound or two this way and that...One day I am really on track and doing well, eating right...and the next? Someone brings donuts to the nursing station...and I am sunk!! Sigh...any advice for me except to get off my fannie and do better with my willpower?? Hard, isn't it.....

***********************Nurse's notes*********************

At work, at the hospital...I heard a voice..."Hey Nurse!" I went to investigate, he was not my patient, but he obviously needed help. The gentleman asked me to change the TV channel, which of course I did...then I noticed... he was paralyzed from the neck down. He had a very strange looking dot in the middle of his forehead...and being the forward, friendly type I am, I asked him what the silver dot was. He said "It is because of my religion"...so I immediately apologized...then he busted out laughing and said, "Not really, the dot controls my computer mouse when I move my head, so I can work and continue my job and support my family." Wow...You know, I just really admire someone faced with great adversity who keeps on...keeping on!! You Go, Fellow!!!!

************************and...a request!*******************

My friend Joyce, a quilter in Arizona, took her husband Buck in for emergency heart cath and possible bypass surgery, depending on what they find...she is so upset, poor lady...would you remember her in your thought and prayers???

Have a great day,

Julie

I love your Dear Jane, I really want to take the plunge and start one, but I have so many irons in the fire I keep putting it off.. But there is a Dear Jane in my future. Your colors are inspiring.

Your Dear Jane is looking really good. Mine is still sitting in a box untouched. I only got as far as buying the book and getting the background...need to get off my rear end and start it.

I can't wait to get ahold of all those nine patches. I've already drawn up a few ideas on EQ...must make a post about that soon.

Don't know which is cutest - Rosie or the quilt?

My blocks are in the post - the red Royal Mail with no card in it as I never got round to writing one - lazy!

Dear Jane is looking wonderful. I designed my own block on the last row. I just could not get it to come out right. That Jane must have been one heck of a piecer is all I got to say.

Just prayed for fellow quilter in Arizona.

At the beginning of your post you mentioned about going to the "farm"...tell us more about the farm...is it a get away place or do you raise cattle, crops, or other stuff?

Certainly some interesting fabrics showing up in your quilts...I am sure "Dear Jane" is pleased with your quilt...not disappointed at all.

A big round of applause for Row 5. Yes, some people, no matter how down we think they are, just amaze us. I just read something recently. When you are down and out and flat on your back, the only way to look is UP! How true.
We are so blessed.

Your DJ is looking gorgeous! And that challenge fabric -- just stunning! You used it in a good block, one that isn't cut so fine you'd miss the beautiful colors and patterns in the fabric!
Praying for your friends and her husband! :-) Serious business, but certainly manageable with the Good Physician. :-)
Blessings!

Your dear Jane blocks are looking wonderful and I think it is important to put your own stamp on a project. Sometimes I hear stories that really make me think, and your patient with the dot on his forehead was one of them. Thanks for sharing that one.

You have our prayers. It is great that someone with no movement can keep up a job with just the move of his head. Keep working on the diet. It is not easy.

Some one once told me, "It's not about willpower... but about WANTpower!" I guess she is right and my wanting is a little fuzzy these days. Congrats on your progress. That is a good idea to modify some of the DJ blocks. I have just an awful time with some of them!

I was just thinking that you hadn't posted about "Jane" in awhile when there you were.Beautiful work and of course you must make it your own by adjusting things a little.
WW says it's not about a diet but about a life style. And in everyone's life there are indulgences. You are making progress allowing yourself a treat now and again is a good thing.
God bless your patient prayers for him and your friend.

Your DJ is looking awesome! It is very disciplined of you to make it row by row. Smart! If I would have done that I wouldn't be stuck with some of the intimidating blocks that I still have to do. :)

You always have posts so full of interesting things! First off..yes, definitely praying for Joyce and Buck. Such hard days to go through. I do pray it goes well.
And the 9 patches are beautiful! Love the little nurse card too. Give Rosie a pat for me. She arranges those amazing DJ blocks beautifully.

Your Dear Jane is coming along nicely. I know she won't mind a block change. After all her quilt isn't that perfect either.

That is such an amazing thing when I a person faced like your gentlemen patient with making a living for his family and he can't move! I admire the heck out of who ever he is! Bless his heart and I Hope many blessing will come his and his families way!

Um did I miss something, you said you guys went to the farm and put up gates? Farm? Are you moving, how did I miss farm in your post LOL

As far as advice goes on your donuts, mmm well when you look at that donut think of what is in that donut. chemicals, gunk, fat, ikky stuff. That donut is no good in anyway what so ever for your health! Never mind the weight loss, think of it on a health basis.. maybe that will help :O). Instead when you look at that donut think, Fruit, veggies, running, and that you want good health well into your old age :O)... and nope LOL that won't work everytime but hey it works sometimes and that is just a few less donuts right :O)...

Your Dear Jane quilt is coming along so nicely! I'm a little envious, yes I am!! I have a friend that's a quad. He's been down for many years now and uses the sip and puff technique with a voice activated computer. My goodness, but technology has come a long way! ~karen

Great blocks Julie. As for being a yo yo - tell me about the junk food at work! I just can't help myself either.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
