HI Y'all! There have been a few of you that are making the five inch blocks, Soot and Ashes, designed by Cheri. I asked my friend Lori of Humble Quilts if she thought that orange might be OK instead...I have no black or dark fabrics to really speak of. She suggested cheddar! I loved that idea...and thought, really, what are the colors of Autumn, here, where I am now? I went outside in our backyard and looked at the leaves...some reds, brown, yellows, cheddars (Lori was right on!) ...and this combination of fabrics most closely represents what I saw. This is a line of fabric ( shocked aren't you...I never use anything in a line...hardly ever!). It is Spice Chest by Jo Morton. I like her style!! I have a few more blocks to go, then I will be caught up with this project for now. Please go over and see Cheri's blog, if you would like to join in!!
Aren't these gorgeous? These nine patches are from Jill, for the nine patch swap...lovely, aren't they? I love them, and Jill also sent a chicken note pad, magnet and fabric...Thank you so much, Jill! She is a BUSY mom...and farm girl! I felt so at home reading her letter...thank you again, Jill!
These lovely nine patches are all the way from Australia! I bet if I counted all the miles...we would thousands and thousands of miles on our nine patches! These pretty ones are from Linda...I just love them! Thank you, Linda, for participating!! Please click on her name and give her a visit at her blog...you will love it! Linda also sent some really pretty fabric...love it!
These wonderful nine patches are from Victoria, all the way from Pennsylvania...aren't they so pretty? Gorgeous in every way! thank you so much, Victoria!! Don't you love the colors she chose?? Help me out, Victoria...do I have you under another name?? Are you Tori?? Thank you!! Can you tell I am getting lost in the nine patches??
These amazing nine patches are from Cecelia...so gorgeous, aren't they? I love them so much...and she sent a wonderful piece of fabric too. Thank you so much, Cecelia! I love the yellow ribbons around the blocks...just so bright and pretty. Please treat yourself to a visit to her blog!

****************The COLD from you know where!!*****************

What is going on with many of us? I have blogged with no less than 5 ladies...who all have this dreadful end of Summer/beginning of fall cold/flu. Yuckola, I say to it!! I am done with you, dreaded cold...be gone!!! If it were only that easy, huh...so I guess I will just suffer through for the normal 10-14 days.

**************************************************************

Have a wonderful day!

Love your soots and ashes! The colors you chose are wonderful. I have been writing down all the instructions but haven't started yet. Not sure what fabrics I'll use but I love yours!
Hope you get well fast. Been spared of it so far but worked Saturday with a sick nurse that shouldn't have come in to work. Hope I'm not next.

Excellent pile of 9-patches growing, too. LOTS of possibilities with those.

I love your blocks Julie! I'm making mine with Jo's last brown line of fabric (I can't remember what it was called). I love Jo Morton fabric and Cheri's patterns. They are my favorite! I'm just getting ready to order Spice Chest.

Love your blocks! Can't go wrong with Jo Morton and some cheddar! Hope you are feeling better...I have come down with the sore throat, but not as sick as my hubby was about a week ago. His went into bronchitis right before we left for vacation...all is well now. Take care!

Lots of colds going around here too, but so far nothing for me!

Love the use of fall colors in the blocks. I should do some pieced blocks, maybe I could finish things faster. Still working on my hexagons, hand quilting if fun, but sure takes a long time.

Those colours work beautifully in those Soot and Ashes blocks. I hope you don't get too attached to all those gorgeous 9 patches that seem to be arriving in large numbers.

I am going on 16 days with this crummy cold...it really does need to go away.

I can't wait for our nine patches to arrive at our doors. Everyone did a great job. Your blocks as usual Julie are wonderful. I wish I lived close to you...you could teach me so much! Like how I volunteered you to be my teacher! lol

Julie, hope you're feeling better soon! I love the blocks. I can't get the flu vaccine this year. I am convinced the flu vaccine I got last September gave me an autoimmune disease of my kidneys. No more flu vaccines EVER for me now. I just hope I don't get too sick without it now. Steph

Hey Julie, couldn't find any other way to contact you, so I will ask here, the quilt you have as your front page photo, the string shirtings quilt, did you use foundation for the string blocks? I LOVE THAT QUILT and have TONS OF SHIRTS!!!!!!! Think I might "steal" your idea. Just wondering about foundation or no foundation? TIA, Jeanne
