Special Arrivals

Could there be a lower contrast picture? Sorry, this batting is on my bathroom counter, but it is quite special. Have you tried Bamboo batting before? Darcie, my North Dakota quilter friend extraordinaire, sent me a piece of her bamboo blend batting to try. It is so soft! This will go into a little quilt in the works already. I like the idea of a rapidly renewable resource like bamboo.
Darcie also made the above felted bowls. I promptly put them to use! They are just right for what I need, and the best of all, they are hand felted by Darcie. Pretty, huh? One has already been claimed by a friend who could not live without it.

On Father's day this year, we went for a walk, went to church, went out to eat, went for a nap...now are up and working. Except I am on the computer, and it is about to break from the massive weight. (just joshing...) Hope you had a wonderful day!!

Yes, I have tried bamboo batting just recently. To me, it is sort of like using Warm 'n Natural. I used it for machine quilting.

Yes, I supply it for my customers and it is just a dream to work with. There are several different brands on the market. I use Quilter's Dream. But I have also had customers supply it from Fairfield, which is equally as nice.

I've not used it but I have heard it is very nice!

Love those bowls! Very cool. I've been trying to get some information on how bamboo is processed. It seems the process is very secretive and it's all processed overseas. It makes me think that there must be a LOT of chemicals involved.

I have never tried bamboo batting before but you have me curious. The felted bowls are really cute. I am a knitter and have really wanted to try felting but just haven't gotten around to it. Bowls would be a small, fast project to try. I will have to remember that.

You've certainly had a busy time of it lately. Glad to see you're still finding time for a little sewing and quilting. I've been wanting to try the bamboo wadding but haven't yet as I still have a bit of cotton hanging around and want to use it up first... Be sure and let us know how it goes...

Jules! Glad you're enjoying your little felted bowls. I've got a small set of my own in my bathroom too...for cotton balls and swabs. I like that they don't make *noise* if they're scooted across the countertop. ;-)

Glad you'll enjoy the bamboo/cotton batting. I knew that you'd appreciate my upcycled packaging material. It's not quite as fun as bubble wrap, but.... ;-)

Hugs.

I have been reading about the bamboo batting, and have wanted to try it - interesting that it's soft to the touch.
The felted bowls are very pretty - they look good where you put them!

Lots of things going on!
