This is my Daddy's Featherweight machine. He used it to make LEATHER (deer and elk skin) coats, mocassins, and gloves. It sewed through multiple thickness of leather like butter. It still sews well, and he gave it to me before he passed away. I had no idea featherweights were a big deal at all until I saw all of your lovely machines on your blogs. Wow, there are some really pretty ones out there!
Last, but not least....don't 'ya just love this little quilt? It is from Anne Bebbington, who swapped some fabrics for it. I just absolutely adore this quilt. It is perfect...she is a really great quilter!
I had a treasured patient pass away today, and it was a blessing, he was suffering so. But I miss him and his family so much. Just because I am not at the hospital doesn't mean I am not there in spirit, many days... His wife's (and mine too) favorite bible verse ends "but the greatest of these is love". I love that verse. Our little neighbor also passed away a few days ago, I had mentioned her a few weeks ago. Sometimes death comes in clumps, huh...
To cherrier things, have a quilting wonderful day! and remember to vote on the border fabric so I know which way to go....

Hope all is well with everyone, and I hope to finish putting together the actual Orange Crush quilt top tomarrow!

How cute!! I like the darker orange, it "pops" more.
I like the second picture best. What a great idea to use up the pieces of left-over fabric. How wonderful that you have your father's featherweight! They are great little machines. There is lots of information on the internet about Featherweights.
What a cute little quilt! Honestly I like this better than the full Orange Crush. The Orange Crush seems a bit busy. As to the border, I like the second one best.
Gold, gold, gold!
I like the first one (more gold) best. I think the 2nd one overpowers a bit. But then it's hard to tell from pictures sometimes. Darling quilt!
I like the second photo best, but anything with red is better....
I like the brighter orange in teh second picture best. It's a wonderful little quilt!
I've got my mother's Featherweight but had no idea how popular they were either until my cousin told me.
Well . . . now that you mention it - red might be just the ticket *s*
The darker orange is my choice.
I'd go with the 2nd one or red, like Nancy anything with red is always good. Great quilt by the way, and oh how blessed are you to have a Featherweight?
I prefer the first border, but then the photo might not represent the true colour. I am not a red fan, so would choose an orange or gold.
Lucky you, having your father's Featherweight.
They really built them sturdy back in the day!
Out of those 2, the top less blotchy one...
Very nice quilt. It is hard to tell about the border as sometimes the colors are distorted. I think a darker, deeper color red or brown would be better.
Lucky you to have a featherweight with family history like that.
Perhaps you've already decided...but I will still share that I really like the quilt in the first photo. I do LOVE red though too...so I'll be excited to see what you've come up with.
I'm so sorry to hear about your close-in-heart losses. My thoughts are with you.
What a treasure your Dad's Featherweight is to you! How wonderful that it is still making magic to this day!
What a cute little quilt...I like the first border best, I think the second one might me too much for it.
Each orange gives a totally different effect to the quilt! both just lovely!!!!! mmmm if I just haddddd to make a choice, I think the first one, I think it looks a bit more primitive maybe? Both are so nice though LOL... ok that is clear as mud huh :O) ...
I like the top orange border best...
It's great you got a little quilt out of the leftovers.
I really like the top picture better. I think it goes accentuates your center much better.
What a wonderful treasure you have in your daddy's Featherweight! I have never sewn with one, but someday would love to try it. I'm loving your "leftover" Orange Crush - very pretty! I like the top border or a red border would be loverly too!
I am sorry to hear of your recent losses, especially your neighbor. My heart goes out to you and their families.
I like the first, darker border best.
Definitely the second picture with the bright orange!
Hi Julie, I think the second photo. The border orange is much brighter, where is the first one is subdued. My vote is the second one. I love the featherweight, something to treasure from your Dad. Warmest Regards Lyn
Very cute quilt...I love that block too. I like the darker border the best.
I like the first pic best! The second just seems to brite to me.
Oh I love your little quilt with the leftovers! Darn, I was going to use them in a different border.... I may have to make more to have leftovers!
Oh Julie what a lovely featherweight! I LOVE mine and I even don't use my pfaff anymore for piecing!
How cute! I like the top border the best. The orange bottom one seems to draw you right to the border instead of the beautiful center. I think borderless is good too (though I do like the inner border). Either way... your little sip of Orange Crush is DARLING!
What a great use of the "leftovers" from your OC quilt! I think they are both wonderful, but the second picture is my favorite. You will love using your FW and it's extra special because it was your father's machine.
