Well, in that never ending closet...was this quilt top. It was in pieces...I guess I meant to quilt it a little at a time, hand quilting. I found it recently!! And ripped out the quilting that I had done, put the whole quilt together...and the white borders just begged me for applique.
This vine is a start...I will add flowers and leaves and other stuff as it comes to me...or the quilt dictates.
I have saved about every single extra half square triangle I have ever made...and it it time to use them up...or not have them anymore. Yep!! Have to do this!! So I am sliver trimming them to use in a quilt...all the same size, so they will fit together nicely. Tedious, but important, as I have found out, LOL!!
Some pieces and parts from Linda O became this little candle mat...I liked doing the binding and hand quilting!! 60 degree corners!!
And last, but definitely not least...a Ortega green chili can. It wanted to become a pin cushion...so it did.
Have a great day!!!
Julie

Always fun and beautiful projects coming out of your sewing studio. Your addition of an appliquéd border really adds to the beauty of that quilt. Glad you found it in "the closet" and revamped your direction. Maybe that's why it's good to tuck things away for a period of time. Projects can take on another whole different look. Sometimes better than the original ideas.
"It wanted to become a pin cushion" -- now that just made me smile. I admire your will to use all those half-square triangles!
Your hourglass quilt is too wonderful, Julie. It's unusual to see such light colors in your work but they speak to me of spring (which I know is on its way soon!). I'm looking forward to seeing the applique you add to the borders. I like that you said, "as the quilt dictates." Quilts are sometimes so bossy.

Love the quilt you found.......I like your cupboard, could I have it?
Your triangle quilt is fabulous! The vine is already looking wonderful. Can't wait to see what you do next with it. Isn't it crazy how time can make you know exactly what needs to be done to a quilt top!
A nice touch adding the vine for the border...
Great looking projects and I can sympathize with your little bonus triangles because I have a bazillion of those, too!
As always, just beautiful! My HSTs are tucked every where. Perhaps my goal s/b to designate one container and collect them all into one place as I come across them! Have a great day! XO
Love your quilt and the applique on the border. How is our Rosie today?
I like your quarter square triangle quilt. The applique will really set it off.
I have a plastic container full of triangles (not even HSTs yet) that want to become something too but I keep ignoring it. I'll have to tackle that someday. Someday. Love the vine and I agree with you. This quilt wants a beautiful à-la-Julie appliquée. Enjoy the slow stitching. ;^)
Your quilt in progress has a very spring look to it. I think the flowers added to the border will be the icing on the cake.
Glad to see Rosie back modeling your quilt! Another beautiful Julie-applique border in the works!! Always lots of wonderfulness happening in your sewing room! :) I find sliver trimming like that relaxing, I guess the tedious repetition.
At my house, borders that beg for applique get shut in the closet! *LOL* You do lovely things to yours!
Look at you go, using up every last bit. How large are you planning to make your HST quilt?
The applique will add just the right frame to the pretty hourglass blocks! All of your projects are wonderful.
Love this quilt you are remaking! It was waiting for the perfect border inspiration... can't wait to see what you will grow on the vines!
Is your fur baby giving you the cold shoulder?? LOL
Creativity on overtime! Whoop! Whoop!
Dear Julie,
love your 1/2 triangles, what super fresh colors, and the little candle mat and pincushion are just too cute too.
Greetings,
Sylvia
I have an hst quilt I need to get to too. Just haven't been able to get it going. Good luck. And I love how you wanted that can to be something, so it was.
